About Telling Stories
Hi, I’m Amy — your resident story finder, part genealogist, part gossip, part time traveler, and just too dang nosey for my own good. I live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia, where history feels alive in the land, old homes, and family cemeteries. Around here, we don’t just collect names and dates. We pull stories out of dusty records, family albums, court transcripts, cemeteries, and sometimes even the shadows of history.
Telling Stories is a podcast, a storytelling space, and a way to bring forgotten histories back into memory. Through episodes, blog posts, and genealogy research services, we explore American history, uncover lives that time almost forgot, and help hobby genealogists and full-service clients connect deeply with their family past.
Whether you’re listening, reading, or commissioning research, every piece of Telling Stories is about uncovering the human side of history and making it accessible, engaging, and meaningful. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup, and settle in — there’s a story waiting for you, and a whole world of stories ready to be discovered.
